Family, friends and fishing

Holding a squid.

Fishing in the surf with daddy and grandfather (known as Poppa T)

Crabbing with chicken necks attached to string.

Fruits, err crabs, of our labors.

Why do you go on vacation? In case you're wondering, while my sons and husband bonded over their Southern heritage by handling slimy creatures or body parts to capture other slimy creatures, my daughter and I did our own bonding Southern-style.

We napped under the ceiling fans.

Laying under the ceiling fan is the best method of bonding in the heat.

Napping is good. My ex and I used to take the kids camping. I loved it. Being out of the fast paced, phone and appointment ridden life. He would want to go hiking or fishing or something and I would say, "I just want to sit here and read my book! Is that too much to ask?"

Off he would go with the kids and I'd have my book ALLLLLL to myself!

Napping under ceiling fans, drinking ice tea, reading a book all afternoon... all are infintely preferable to holding squids and catching crabs.
But that's just me.
I love that your holiday seems to have been a lot of lazy afternoons and filled with just being together moments. That's my kind of vacation for sure.

Welcome back, SMID!

I missed you.

Vacations are indeed about ebing able to be together, without hurrying to soccer practice etc...

Bliss!

ahhh... lounging under a ceiling fan. Nice. All you need is to have someone peel and feed you grapes. Hopefully, NOT after handling raw squid. :)

That looks like a great vacation spot. How AWESOME ... but I like your way too.

I don't like fishing. I'd choose the nap option, also.

Why what lovely responses -

Jenn - yes, ceiling fans are great

Ms. Teri - your ex would be my ex if he took me camping.

JiH - Ice tea? By 5pm it was gin and tonics.

GF - I missed you too!

Cablegirl and Maggie - hello ladies! You've been so good to visit. I promise to come on over.

McDad!! -- Oh hello! Is there a new LA -Baby in the world?

Okay, I'll totally buy into that idea. I was just thinking "family vacation" and all. But I will change my drink order to a gin and tonic. Hey, if you're drinkin', I'm joinin'!
