River Deep, Mountain High

There is always some place in a city that gives the best view of the skyline. Sometimes it is in an exclusive area that us average folks can not access. Fortunately Seattle is not one of those places.

While driving to Kerry Park on a cloudy Sunday, Amazing Guy let out a huge "Woah!" and pointed to the left. Mt. Rainer was literally glowing under the clouds.

He and I are both from parts of the USA where land does not go that high. In his part of the country a park actually added a grass-covered dirt pile so kids could experience what it is like to run up and down a "hill". In my part, the mountain people brag about climbing is not even half the hight of Rainier.

And while it was still cloudy on the day we visited the park with a view, it was no less spectacular to admire the vista.

A bonus was the sculpture "Changing Form" by Doris Chase in the middle of the lookout. The kids had a field day climbing all over it.

Yesterday the hippopotami, today the mountain. Which of the last two stories will be next? Being asked to leave a bar or finding the inspiration for Billy Goats Gruff? You decide, but only if you leave me a message. Like I have said before, my telepathy is not what it used to be.

Those photos are gorgeous. I've only been to that part of the country once, but I loved it. So pretty!

I'm thinking troll. :)

Wow. Those photos are beautiful. My family lived in Port Angeles when I was a kid. It would be cool to head out that way again to visit.

Let's hear the bar story.

The bar - I know the billy goat's gruff. It is cool to see if one has a photo, but otherwise, not as interesting as getting kicked out of somewhere!

I immediately finished your title in my head with "yeah, yeah, yeah," and then started the cylcle in my head, "do I love you my, oh, my,...." and "oh how I love you baby, baby baby baby..."

Anyway - so you got lucky this time of year. Ms. Rainier doesn't make many November apperances. Stunning though, huh? Making me homesick! I will be home in a week for TG though. Planning a visit to the center to see the decorations and ride the carousel.

I have yet to see that part of the country. But I have a friend that moved there recently, so I hope to be visiting Seattle in the near future!

Talk about beautiful--awing what God can do with lights, air moisture, and a lot of stacked up mud and rock!

OK, what's the story behind Billy Goats Gruff? My mind is numb trying to figure it out--inquiring minds want to know.

That photo was amazing. My DH really misses mountains - he grew up in and around Vermont and the Adirondacks, which are hills compared to Rainier. My dream place to live would definitely be Vancouver, for similar reasons...

Since I already know you are telling the bar story I will vote for that one too. :)
