There once was an old troll who swallowed a car

Every evening both of my sons bring home a large ziplock bag with a single book from their classrooms. We all signed forms that we would take care of the books and read them every night. For our trip, each teacher let the boys bring several books.

One boy brought Three Billy Goats Gruff in his plastic bag. After the wicked cool Uncle and Aunt took them to the corner of N 36th and Troll Ave, he is convinced that the Fremont Troll is the inspiration for the book.

When actually the troll is based on the story. Although the Volkswagen under his left hand, which may have been lunch, isn't part of the book my son had.

And since I can't let go of this trip, I'll post mainly photos tomorrow to wrap up it all up.

PS - Thanks for the title suggestions. Sadly for me, I didn't know most of your recommendations. Clearly my loss and I will get on listening to them!! But did you like my play on There Was an Old Woman?

Wow, that really is a wicked cool troll. After all these pics and stories I am really trying to come up with a good reason to visit Seattle. I have loved the series here and am excited to see MORE photos. What a lot of fun and adventure you packed into a weekend!
There are so many versions of the billy goats gruff story, I suppose one somewhere talks about a VW lunch. Me, I always pictured the troll a little smaller and not so freakin' scary looking. But I suppose for a troll this size the smallest billy goat would really have been much MUCH too small to eat. But, just how did the biggest goat push the troll off the bridge. Dude, that troll is ginormous!!

Okay, now that I have entered a comment as long as the original post I am going to stop here. If only I could post pictures with my comment... really, that could make it all complete. Ridiculous, surely, but complete.

I must come to Seattle! Way cool troll. Don't know who came up with the idea, or the artist that sculpted it--but, well, just way cool ;-)
